Ladybug on Poison Hemlock with White Flowers
Poison Hemlock, which looks a lot like Queen Anne’s Lace, grows rampant throughout our neighborhood. We’re working on eradicating it from our yard. But before I knew that’s what it was, I spent an afternoon photographing lady bugs on the plants on a beautiful summer day.

Pink Water Lily in a Blue Pond
I took this photo of a water lily in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the garden outside my grandfather’s former office at Aquinas College. The garden – in fact the whole campus – has a lot of sentimental value for me. I spent many hours wandering, playing, walking the dog, and visiting my grandfather at that campus, which is also across the street from my grandparents’ house.
